I am a descendant of the Greene County and surrounding area Whiteheads of TN. My grandfather James Loury Whitehead came to New Market, Iowa in Taylor County in 1902 from Johnson City, Greene County, TN area. His father Wk coming later.

Much information has been sent to me over the past 2 years, which made me decide to put an informal web page on the Taylor County Site. If anyone wants to contact me they can do so and I will try and help or direct you to someone who can.

I have made a dear friend in TN and a friend in OK because of the emails we share through the Whitehead ancestors. My friend in TN has discovered that we are related on both sides through WK Whitehead and his wife Rachel Pratt. It has been great fun and has made me more aware of my ancestors. My father Raymond Whitehead is dead but he would have loved knowing that I was trying to keep memories alive. I have aunts and cousins that all live in New Market and we are all close family. I have lived in New Market all of my life as did my dad and his brother Milo and 2 sisters Cleta and Cleva.
