New Market Herald April 24, 1924 William Kyalis Whitehead was born April 11, 1857 and died at his home southwest of New Market, on April 22, 1924, aged 67 years, 11 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Rachel Pratt. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive. U.S. Whitehead of Johnson City, Tenn., Loury Whitehead of New Market, Tom Whitehead of Watson, Mo., Mrs. Charles Wilds of Bridalvale, Ore. His wife, a daughter Mrs. Nola Huskey, and an infant child having preceded him in death. On Jan 1, 1897 he was again united in marriage to Miss Matilda Bennett of Morristown, Tenn. To this union were born four children; Horace, Frank and Lee all at home, an infant daughter Hester Belle having died in infancy, a foster daughter Mrs. Axsel Eden of Hepburn, Ia. Mr. Whitehead was born in Tenn., some fifteen years ago he moved with his family to Taylor Co., and has lived here ever since, where he has won many friends and proved himself a worthy neighbor. When a young man he made profession of religion, uniting with the Baptist Church and at one time was a deacon of his home church. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Masonic Lodges of New Market. His illness was of short duration only having lasting a few days when the end came. He was a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, eight children, 10 grandchildren, two brothers James and John Whitehead of Watson, Mo., a nephew Jim Wayne of New Market, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. E.B. Osborne. Interment at Memory Cemetery. Note: I have copied this word for word from the obit.
