Can you help?

If you want to roll up your sleeves now and get started, there are some projects already underway to which you could contribute, many of which can be done remotely by using the internet. If you want to consider other ideas, consider the ones below.

As I look at the current contents of this Marion county web site, here are some areas that I think it would be great to add some content. Can you pick a topic of interest and volunteer to help with it? If so, please let me so that we don't have duplicate efforts. Thanks much!

• Under Vital Records, there are no birth records. The courthouse in Knoxville should have early birth records books. Could someone begin transcribing one of these books to get start here.
• Under Vital Records, there are no death records. The courthouse in Knoxville should have early death records books. Could someone begin transcribing one of these books to get start here.
• Under Vital Records, there are no naturalization records. The courthouse in Knoxville may have some of these records, though often they are held at regional centers. Could someone check on this?
• Under Other Records, there are no church records. Here I am looking both for information about, and history of, Marion county churches, but I would also expect there to be early church records that could be of genealogical interest. The information and history would be housed in the Community section while the records would be held here. Does this sound interesting to tackle?
• Under Other Records, there are no land records. At an elementary level, it would be nice to have various platt maps that show ownership but there are also Grantee and Grantor records to incorporate here.
• Under Community, I already mentioned the dearth of information on county churches.
• Under Community, are there early town directories to house here?
• Under Community, there is not much for maps. I would like to add platt maps as well as other township maps and various county maps. Do you have any to contribute? Sometimes courthouses house older maps. Can anyone check on this and contribute?
• Under Community, I would like to see more information about the schools in this county, particularly the rural "one-room" school houses, but the community schools as well.
• Under People, we are always looking for more information on various Marion county families. as well as biographies.
• Under Tools, what are some other meaningful tools to add? Please make suggestions
• It is easy to add lots of links to the Other Links under Links, but what are some that would be most useful?
• Does anyone have a brand new category to add? Please suggest and contribute.
