In 2014 I came into possession of a copy of "The History of Jefferson County, Iowa, containing A History of the County, its Cities, Towns, &c., A Biographical Directory of Citizens, War Record of its Volunteers in the late Rebellion, General and Local Statistics, Portraits of Early Settlers and Prominent Men, History of the Northwest, History of Iowa, Map of Jefferson County, Constitution of the United States, Miscellaneous Matters, &c.", published by the Western Historical Company of Chicago in 1879. This document was on the Internet at one time, but has since disappeared. It has been transcribed for permanent inclusion on the Jefferson County site.
