Napoleon is my great-grandfather. His son Alvin bates Nailen was my grandfather, and his son, Richard L. Nailen is my father. Napoleon was counted in the 1920 census as an inmate at the Linn County jail, serving a sentence for illegal liquor transportation (from Illinois, pre-prohibition). He supposedly got cancer shortly after being released from custody and died later in 1920. I have no idea why he was in Johson County, but that is what the death certificate says.
