Alice Kuhn, 94, services held
Funeral services for Alice Kuhn of Spillville were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with Rev. Donald Hawes and Monsignor Cletus Hawes officiating. Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville. Pallbearers were: Alan Kuhn, Brian Kuhn, Jeff Fjelstul, Ken Barloon, Dean Kuhn, Marvin Kuhn, Keith Barloon, and Earl Scott Meyer. Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Alice, 94, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at the Winneshiek Co. Hospital in Decorah following a long illness.
Alice Rose Kuhn was born February 3, 1908 near Spillville the daughter of William and Christina (Soukup) Riehle. She attended school at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School.
On September 14, 1931 she married James Kuhn at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Catholic Workmen and the Spillville Ladies Auxiliary.
Alice loved to garden, crochet, sew and cook. She raised ducks, geese, chickens, and sold eggs.
She is survived by four sons: James of Lime Springs, Arthur of Cresco, Gerald of Ft. Atkinson, and Richard of Ft. Atkinson; three daughters: Alice Barloon of Waucoma, Joanne Hageman of Ossian and Rita Fjelstul of Calmar; 26 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and one sister: Wilma Sabelka of New Hampton.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband James; one son: Robert; her parents; four brothers: Oscar, Conrad, Norbert, and Julius; three sisters: Mae Mashek, Christina Lukes, and Dorothy Hanson.
