Frank Puffer, age 92, of rural Spillville, IA died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville with a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 5:00. There will also be visitation after 9:30 Thursday morning at the funeral home.
Frank Louis Puffer was born on July 30, 1921 to Joseph and Emma (Bouska) Puffer on the family farm north of Conover, IA. Frank attended school at the Conover School and farmed with his parents. Frank married Alice Kostohryz on November 20, 1945, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. Together they farmed the family farm. Frank enjoyed polkas, playing cards, and especially his granddaughters. Frank was a life-long member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Farm Bureau.
Frank is survived by his wife: Alice Puffer, Ridgeway, IA. One son: Ronald Puffer, Ridgeway, IA. One daughter: Betty (Steve) Ragaller, Minneapolis, MN. One son-in-law: Kenneth Smith, Springfield, MO. Five grand-daughters: Carmen (Rob) Broadbent, Danielle (Ryan) Fitzpatrick, Sara, Terese and Kathryn Ragaller.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Emma (Bouska) Puffer. One daughter: Patricia Smith. One brother: Joseph (Marcella) Puffer. Four sisters: Helen (Louis) Balik, Emma (Thomas) Pecinovsky, Mary (George) Phillips and Christina (Vincent) Kellner. Two brothers-in-law: Raymond (Evelyn) Kostohryz and Edwin Kostohryz.
