Mrs. John Taylor

This community was shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. John Taylor who died at the St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital at New Hampton on Saturday morning, Feb. 6, following an operation performed the previous Wednesday. The deceased, Anna Fisher was the oldest of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher of Spillville. She was born in the year of 1875 and at the time of her death she was almost 62 years old. She grew to young womanhood here and 38 years ago was united in marriage to John Taylor at the St. Wenceslaus church in Spillville. To this union five children were born: (Lulu) Mrs. Wm. Schwade; (Mathilda), Mrs. Joseph Bily, and (Regina), Mrs. Frank Svec and one son, Fred. A daughter, Agnes, preceded her mother in death several years ago. Besides her husband, children, and fourteen grandchildren she also leaves the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Jos. Prohaska, Protivin, Mrs. C. R. Haug, John, Anton and Fred Fisher, Spillville; Mrs. John Junko, Lawler; Joseph Fisher, Garnavillo and Adolph Fisher, Cedar Rapids. The passing of this splendid woman is a sad blow to her bereaved husband and family for she was loved by all who knew her, and her presence in the home where she spent so much of her time will be sorely missed. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at the St. Wenceslaus church of which she was always a faithful member. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. The services were largely attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Floral offerings were many and beautiful.
