Wenzel Kuboushek, 81, died at his home here Sunday evening, Sept. 3, death being due to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Kuboushek was born in Litoradlice, Czechoslovakia, Oct. 30, 1857. He was united in marriage with Miss Kathryn Oswald who passed away on December 29, 1936. Following their marriage they came to this country in 1809 {sic} and settled near Cedar Rapids, where they lived for five years. They then moved to a farm northeast of Spillville and in 1922 they retired from farm life and came to Spillville, since their home. To this union five children were born: Mary, Mrs. Joseph Novak, Fort Dodge; Frank, Minneapolis; Albert, Spillville; Lewis, on the old homestead and Anna, Mrs. Adolph Uher, who has been living with her parents and caring tenderly for them in their declining years. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and the Spillville community, for he was an honest and upright citizen, a good friend and neighbor. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Wenceslaus church of which he was a devoted member. Rev. J. P. Broz and Rev. V. J. Hlubek officiated. Pallbearers were: James Kovarik, A. A. Ira, Joseph Luzum, Frank Swartz, John Hasting and Roy B. Novak. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kuboushek, daughter Florence, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kuboushek and Rose Malek, all of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Novak of Ft. Dodge.
