Mrs. Wenzel Kuboushek

Mrs. Wenzel Kuboushek, aged 82 years, passed peacefully away Tuesday Dec. 29, 1936, at her home in Spillville, after an illness of three months. She was confined to her bed since September, when she suffered a stroke from which time she gradually failed until the angel of death called her to her heavenly home. She died fortified by the last rites of her religion, of which she was a faithful and consistent member. The characteristics of a truly christian wife and mother were ever exemplified by her love and devotion for her husband and children by whom she will be sadly missed. As Kathryn Oswold, she was born in Kmin Czechoslovakia March 7, 1854, a daughter of Francis and Anna Oswold. She was married to Wenzel Kuboushek in her native land and together they came to American 46 years ago and settled on a farm in Benton county. After a few years they came to Winneshiek county settling on a farm east of Spillville where they lived until 14 years ago when they retired from farm life and moved to their beautiful home here where she passed away. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves five children to mourn her, as follows: Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Novak, of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Adolph (Anna) Uher, of Calmar; Frank of Minneapolis; Albert and Louis of near Spillville. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death in Europe and one sister, Mrs. Theresa Moudry of Spillville, who passed away two years ago.

Funeral services were held at the St. Wenceslaus church Saturday morning at 9:30, conducted by Rev. J. P. Broz and Rev. V. J. Hlubek. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining. Pall bearers were John Soukup, Joseph Ptachek, A. A. Novak, James Humpal, James Kovarik and Jas. Strnad. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and children in the loss of a loving wife and mother. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kuboushek of Minneapolis.
