Services held for Frank Phillips, 61
Funeral services for Frank Phillips of Spillville were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. Rev. Donald Hawes officiated. Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Spillville. Honorary pall bearers were: all of Frank’s co-workers. Pall bearers were: Larry Phillips, Gene Shindelar, Dave Panos, Kevin Phillips, Greg Hron, and Lee Panoch. Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Frank, 61, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at Palmer Health Care Center in West Union.
Frank Louis Phillips was born April 19, 1940 the son of George and Mary (Puffer) Phillips on their farm near Spillville. Frank attended St. Wenceslaus School.
On November 5, 1963 he married Cheryl Tollefsrud at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Frank worked as a heavy equipment operator for Dick Swehla, Gary Wiltgen, and Bruening Rock Products up to April 20, 2001.
He liked to go fishing, hunting, turtling, gardening, and listening to polka and country music.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Spillville; two sons: Larry of Festina and Kevin of Spillville; one daughter: Lori Phillips-Martin of Decorah; four grandchildren; one brother: Joseph of New Port Richey, FL; and two sisters: Mary Svoboda and Marcella Lucas both of Cresco.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John and George; and two sisters: Christine Krivachek and Pauline Kuhn.
