Louis Andera, 76, services held
Funeral services for Louis Martin Andera, 76, of rural Spillville, were held at 11:00 a.m., June 13 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Spillville with interment in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Spillville. Rev. Louis Trzil officiated. Pallbearers were Jerald Andera, Mike Zoulek, Mike Hageman, Dale Andera, Tom Zoulek and Patrick Andera. Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Louie died June 10, 1998 at LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.
He was born August 27, 1921 to Albert and Frances (Humpal) Andera near Spillville. He attended school at St. Wenceslaus and worked with his parents on the family farm. He then went to a trade school in Des Moines and worked in an aircraft factory in Baltimore, MD, until he went into the service during World War II, after which he received the Purple Heart for his service.
On May 1, 1946, he married Doris Zoulek at St. Wenceslaus in Spillville. They farmed in the Spillville area for the rest of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; his six children, Sue Knight of Champlin, MN, Nancy Elofson of Tucson, AZ, Julia Andera of Decorah, Joane Kulish of Calmar, Paul Andera of Fort Atkinson, and Dawn Bohr of Calmar; 18 grandchildren; six brothers: Albert and Bob of Cresco, Frank of Spillville, Matt of Calmar, Willie of Protivin, and Larry of Decorah; and two sisters: Marcella Hayek of Spillville, and Mary Soukup of Decorah.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Adella Peterson and Frances Hageman; two brothers: Edward and Cyril; and one great-grandson.
