Miss Emma Walenta, daughter of Mrs. John Walenta, passed away at her home west of Spillville on Tuesday evening, Aug. 5, at 6:15. She was born Nov. 1, 1890. Miss Walenta was a very prominent young lady, who received her education at Breckenridge college, Decorah, Fayette and Cedar Falls. She also attended a girls college at Tacoma, Wash. Having taught school for a number of years, Miss Walenta accepted a position as bookkeeper at the Mayo clinic, Rochester, Minn., where she was employed two years. She also had a position as clerk for one year at Knolton’s Dept. Store.
Funeral services were conducted here on Friday morning at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic church at 9 o’clock . Rev. J. P. Chihak read the Requiem Mass and delivered a very impressive and consoling sermon. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. The pall bearers were Will Lentz, Francis Drew, Joseph Ludwig, Edw. Andera, Jos. Falada and Norbert Wagner.
Deceased is survived by her mother, four sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Peter Soukup of New Hampton; Jessie, Mrs. J. H. Robertson, of Siston, S. D.; Clara, Mrs. Will Drew of Ridgeway and Elenore and one brother, Frank, at home. Her father and a sister have preceded her in death. Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Joe Kabat, Dubuque; Mrs. Ben Linsenger and daughter, Mrs. O’Leary, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Al Prohaska and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Prohaska, Milwaukee; Mrs. Harry Carr, Chicago; E. L. Condlon, Milwaukee, and many others from New Hampton and nearby towns. Friends and relatives in this community deeply regret the untimely passing of this fine young lady who leaves behind many precious memories which time will not efface. Sympathy is extended to her bereaved family in the loss of their loved one.
