Irma Falada, age 92, of Spillville, Iowa, died Saturday November 25, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, after a sudden illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the St Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville by Rev. Donald Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 – 8:00 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be visitation after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning.

Irma Cecilia (Nienhaus) Falada was born on April 28, 1914, the daughter of John and Catherine (Kipp) Nienhaus on the family farm near Festina, IA. She graduated from Catholic elementary school in Festina and worked on the family farm.

In May 1948, Irma was married to Joseph Falada in Our Lady of Seven Dolores Catholic Church in Festina, IA. They engaged in farming near Spillville, IA after their marriage.

She was a member of St Wenceslaus Church. Irma was an avid bingo player and loved a good game of euchre as well. Irma tied many quilts and was always eager to assist with church functions. She enjoyed entertaining and visiting with family and friends. Irma always was willing to make a fresh pot of coffee for anyone who might drop by.

Surviving are her son, John and his wife Sharon of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter Cathy Somers and husband Aaron of Chandler, AZ; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Moriah Somers. Two brothers-in-law: Sylvester Mollers of Ossian, IA and Nick Croatt of New Hampton, IA. One sister-in-law: Helen Nienhaus of Ossian, IA.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband: Joseph; daughter: Mary Jo; son: Jerry; two brothers: Florian and Alf Nienhaus; four sisters: Rose Schmitt , Mae Lusson, Eleanor Croatt and Virginia Mollers.
