June Fagerlie, age 88, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Cresco Care Center in Cresco, Iowa following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah by Rev. Tom Pietz with burial in Orleans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah.
June Rose Fagerlie was born May 28, 1920, in Walhala, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles R. and Lillian M. (Kintz) Stockdale. She attended Fillmore County schools in Minnesota.
She was united in marriage to Clifford Hagen on June 28, 1941. This union was blessed with two children: Duane and Rosalie. Clifford died on October 29, 1966. She married Harly Fagerlie September 23, 1972.
June farmed with Clifford until the early 1960’s and then they moved to Decorah. She had worked at Luther College food service for 10 years and then in the dietary department for Winneshiek County Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1986.
June was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the Ruth Circle. She had also been a member of the Good Neighbors Club, Sunrise Club and Union Planters Club. She loved her family and friends and also enjoyed gardening and flowers, playing cards and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford Hagen, on October 29, 1966; her daughter, Rosalie, on July 29, 2005; two grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and six brothers and sisters: Vivian Sanderson, Maxine Morrison, Robert Stockdale, Charles Stockdale, Jr., Reed Stockdale and Hazel Lindy.
June is survived by her son, Duane (Donna) Hagen of Waterloo, Iowa; her son-in-law, Dean Bigalk of Cresco, Iowa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leone Hein of Gold Bar, WA and Genevieve (Robert) McNiff of Austin, MN; and by nieces and nephews.
