Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral mass for Robert Kuboushek was held Wednesday, July 3 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa with Rev. Robert Hirsch officiating. Lector was Roger Gerleman and offertory Julie Kuboushek, Shelly Kuboushek, Sarah Kuboushek, and Jennifer Glawe. Mass servers were John Silhacek, Brandon Kuboushek, and Brent Lechtenberg. Music was provided by Doris Thompson and Dan Silhacek. Honorary casketbearers were the Catholic Workmen Br. 33 Spillville. Pallbearers were David Kuboushek, Kyle Kuboushek, Daniel Kuboushek, Adam Kuboushek, Mark Kuboushek, Bradley Kuboushek, Kari Kuboushek, Amy Kuboushek, Benjamin Kuboushek, and John Glawe. Burial was in the church cemetery. Schluter & Balik Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Robert Albert Kuboushek, son of Albert and Christena (Luzum) Kuboushek, was born May 26, 1927 on a farm north of Conover, Iowa. He attended country school, St. Wenceslaus Elementary School, and Calmar High School. Bob was united in marriage to Laura Rausch on November 27, 1948 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. They became the parents of six children. Robert farmed all his life in the Calmar and Conover area. They moved to Calmar in 1979 and continued farming. He was associated with the Winneshiek County ASCS, both on the committee and land measuring. He was a member of the Catholic Workman, Holy Name, served on the St. Wenceslaus Parish Council and a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Church. Robert thoroughly enjoyed spending time his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed making his daily trips around the countryside in his pickup, and visiting with everyone and anyone.
Robert Albert Kuboushek died Sunday June 30, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Christine, a brother, Raymond Kuboushek, and four sisters, Wilma Gerleman, Marcella Schmitt, Mildred Silhacek, and Viola Meyer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Laura of Calmar, Iowa; 5 sons, Linus (Bette) Kuboushek of Dyersvile, Iowa, Thomas (Marj) Kuboushek of Calmar, Iowa, Steven (Janice) Kuboushek of Ridgeway, Iowa, Michael (Ann) Kuboushek of Calmar, Iowa, Kevin (Cathy) Kuboushek of Lakeville, Minnesota; 1 daughter, Lori (Mark) Glawe of Garber, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Kyle Kuboushek, Amy Kuboushek, Kari Kuboushek, Bradley Kuboushek, Daniel Kuboushek, David Kuboushek, Mark Kuboushek, Julie Kuboushek, Adam Kuboushek, Shelly Kuboushek, Sarah Kuboushek, Benjamin Kuboushek, Jennifer Glawe, and John Glawe; 1 sister, Christine (Herb) Rausch of Ft. Atkinson, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
