In Response To: Leggett (Leslie Shuster)

I am looking for the parents of my 2nd great-grandmother, who was orphaned when she was very young. Her name was Mary Jane Leggett, born in Iowaville and was adopted by Judge John W. Alley. She's shows up living in his home in the 1850 census and is still using her birth name of Leggett. After that she is listed with the surname Alley. There was a story told by my family that she and her brother were the only two left and she lost track of him after her parent's death. I might have found the names of her parents, but I'm not sure. Robert Leggett married a Lucinda Carver in 1837 and shows up in one Iowa census in 1840, but there's nothing after that.
