On the 1856 Census available on this site there is listed a James Leggett age 18, living in the Farmington Twp. He is listed on page 684 of the census. How can I find the information as whom he was living with. I have a G-grandfather by this name and more currently (in the mid to late 1800's) my family resided in the VanBuren, Iowa area. My grandfather John Shuster born 1867, Van Buren Co. and was married to an Amanda Leggett born 1870 (not sure where she was born but listed as just in Illinois) and she was the daughter of James Leggett. I understand his parents (James Leggett's actual parents) died while he was a small lad. Does someone have access to or can someone dicepher this information on the census for me.
