My GGGrandparents David Shuster & Christina Yager were in Jackson Twp. Van Buren Co. IA in 1850. David was PA-Dutch born in Westmoreland Co. PA in 1807. His maternal grand parents were Altman & Beck born in Germany. The Shusters came from Germany after 1720. David's wife Christina Yager was born in Germany and married David in Ohio. The David Shuster family was both a German and an American family. They spoke German at home and they were very much involved in the westward movement in America. David and Christina Shuster were married in Ohio, then moved to IN, then to IA, then to MO and finally to KS. They may have only been following a straight line west from Morgan Co., OH to Henry Co., IN to Van Buren Co, IA but I am researching several families who heard that there was good land in AR, or IL or KS or IA and packed everything in a wagon and moved on to the next exciting place.
