I'm afraid you have exhausted my insights. I poked around the census data and can see Jabez/Dorcas living in Iowa as early as 1856 (and probably as early as 1852 considering one of their children was born in Iowa about that time). They appear to have lived primarily in Des Moines TWP near Cantril.

Dorcas was born in VA - as were her parents. Jabez was from OH - so you're probably right about Dorcas following him.
