I have recently come across a "souvenir card" given to my grandfather Lewis Charles LINN in 1898 by his teacher Nora E. WELLBORN. It is entitled: Independent School District, Des Moines Township, Van Buren County, Iowa. The list of pupils is as follows:

Frank JOHNMy grandfather, Lewis Charles LINN graduated from Cantril High School April 1905. His very good friend from Cantril was Charles VALE and I have quite a few correspondances and at least 3 pictures of him (one of these pictures has his wife in it but I do not know her name). Bessie VALE (listed above) was Charles' sister and I believe their father was a William A. VALE b. 18 June, 1857 in Iowa and their mother was Frankie L. STRUBLE b. About 1859 in Pa. Both Lewis and Charles were born in Cantril in 1885. My grandfather Lewis died in 1955 in Long Beach, California and Charles VALE died (I believe) in Boone, Boone County, Iowa. The above mentioned Ruth CLARK (her father was John K. CLARK, b. 28
Sept., 1842 in Westmoreland County, Pa., d. 1914 Cantril, Ia.---children: James R., Ruth, Agnes, Homer, Grover) married Ralph W. LINN, brother to my grandfather Lewis. I am researching the LINNs and the HOSKIN family too. All the above mentioned LINNs (except for Lewis) were the children of Milton Alexander LINN who was my grandfather Lewis's uncle. I have been trying to locate my grandfather's sister DORA LINN who was born in about 1872 in Cantril. She married an Ora or possibly Ira HOSKIN. Ora and Dora moved to Colorado for a time then moved to Pasadena, California. I believe Dora died before 1931 and I have no information on Ora as to when or where he died. They had 2 children: Raymond and Betty Mae HOSKIN. Any information regarding Dora Linn HOSKIN, Ora (or Ira) HOSKIN, the LINN family or the VALE family would be greatly appreciated.
