My great-great grandmother Elizabeth (Langley) Graham b 1823 PA lived with her Uncle Sam Langley in or near what was then Plymouth, Van Buren Co., Iowa, after the death of her husband, John Graham, in the summer of 1850. They had one son, Jasper Newton Graham born 1847; their other three children, William, Bolen and Lucinda Graham, had died there as infants. Elizabeth and Jasper came back to Chidester, Ouachita Co., Ark. to her mother's home in late 1850, by ship or large boat. Elizabeth told her family that her Uncle Sam Langley "had butlers, maids and everything fine and grand." His two old-maid/spinster daughters lived with him. My great-grandfather, John Wesley Graham, was born on March 9, 1851 in Ouachita Co., Ark. In 1852, Elizabeth married 2. Robinson Malcolm Willett in Union Co., Ark. (see www.findagrave.com for my family)
