SARAH JANE POLING
Sarah Jane, daughter of Richard and Phoebe Poling, was born in Van Buren county Iowa, June 16, 1865, passed away at her home in Cantril, Iowa, April 27, 1936, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 19 days.
She was united in marriage with Warren Keeler Feb. 19, 1893, to this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters, namely, Rex, of Dolores, Colorado, Ross of Ottumwa, Iowa, Ralph at home, Mrs. Rena Buckles of Davenport, Iowa, and Rena [sic] Leathers of Batavia, Iowa.
She confessed faith in Christ at an early age, and united with the M. E. Church at Mt. Sterling. The graces of a Christian character that have been most pronounced were her loyalty to her family, husband and children and showed considerable kindness to friends and neighbors.
Her husband preceeded her in death May 30, 1927. She is now survived by her five children, twelve grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church in Cantril, April 28, by her pastor, Rev. F. M. James. Three songs were given by Gerald Dunsmore, Ben Casady, Mrs. Nola Au gspurger [sic] and Miss Elma Daggs, Mrs. George Cretcher presided at the piano. Burial was in the Harness cemetery near Mt Sterling with the Wellborn directing.
