Hello,
It is unlikely you will find a death record except by inference. Death records were geneally not kept until 1880 in Iowa counties. An exception is a coroner's inquest which would be found in county court records. My idea for this problem was to study the 1856 Iowa census. Even tho Jackson county is likely as residence for these folks I was stimied by inability to locate any of the persons mentioned in the 1860 census.
The 1856 Iowa census index on Ancestry.com was searched for young women named Mary White and many were located. However, since you did not mention if Mary had older children I could not narrow down the search. An example is Elon (26) and Mary (22) with one child a girl (Edith) age 1, in Summit, Winnesheik, Iowa.
Have you located any of these people on subsequent census records? Other records? How do you know when Mary was remarried?
