Hi! My grandfather, Ernest, was the only child of Samuel and Daisy Quackenbush. He was born in Ames. He had four children, Preston; Ernest, Jr. (who died at 18), Donna and Joanne - between them they had 9 children and 9 grandchildren - we have a lot of DNA here if you need any!
Do you know anything about the Nordskog connection?? I have had connections with some of the grandchildren. I also have a picure of some of the Nordskogs. There was a Gloria, she was a professional ice skater and skated under the name "Gloria Nord" - I believe she is still alive and living in California. My grandparents had a company the made slippers under the name of MUKLUKS - Gloria did some ads for them.
I have the bill for Ellen Quackenbush's funeral -it was made out to Samuel Hiestand. She is buried with the Hiestand's in Ames. Samuel lived in Princeton, Wisconsin with Ernest until he died (Daisy died before he moved to Princeton) and then they took him back to iowa to be buried.
I have pictures of Daisy, but I don't think I have anyother Quackenbush's (unless they are among the unlabeled). I would love copies of any pictures you might have.
Have you found any information on Ellen or her husband? If you've ever been at the Courthouse in Store County, the older records don't have a lot of information. I do have an article on her death (if I can find it).
Keep in touch! Nancy Hiestand Trotter
