Aart Van Meveren died at his home in this city of kidney trouble Wednesday night at eleven o'clock after a lingering illness. He was eighty years old and had been poorly for several months. He was one of Sioux county's oldest settlers having come here about thirty years ago and settled on a farm three miles north of town. He raised a family of nine children by his first wife who died some years ago. Four years ago he married Mrs. Vander Sloot of Keokuk and moved to Alton. The children are Pete of North Yakima Washington, Neil and Will on the farm, Mrs. DeRaad of Maurice, Mrs. Johnson of Boyden, Mrs. Menning of Devils Lake North Dakota, Mesdames Johanning and Kooyman of Leota Minnesota. The funeral will be Saturday at two.

The death of Mrs. Van Meeveren the wife of A. Van Meeveren, living northeast of town, which occurred last Monday evening, was a great shock to her many relatives and friends, notwithstanding the fact that she had been ill for some time past. The funeral was held from the Reformed church in this city last Thursday, interment in the cemetery west of town.
