Hi Joyce, You are correct about the Annie Wittenmeyer Home. It was not founded 'til circa 1865. Don't know what facilities, if any, were in Scott co. prior to that. It's possible a children's institution had nothing to do in the young misses life. I am curious as to who she traveled with from Germany to Baltimore & thence to Davenport. Dick
