Donna- I believe we just might be related. Your family fits the description of the family living next door to my family in the 1870 Iowas census for Powesheik, Lincoln Twp., page 337, near Montezuma, IA.
My family: Charles,52,b.Prussia/Germany,farmer

Mary, 46,b.Prussia/Germany,wife

Hellen, 18,b.Prussia/Germany,dau.

William, 10,b. IL

Ida, 8,b.IL

Annie, 6,b.IL
Your Family: John, 45,b. Prussia

Christenia, 42,b.Prussia

Caroline, 13

Hellen, 11

Harmon, 5 sp?

John, 4

Addie, 2
Since there are no birthplaces for John's children I am assuming they were born in Iowa.
I am trying to find out where in Prussia they were from but so far no luck. A lot of times the spelling of the names got changed when they came over to America.
Yes there are several Wokosin's in Wisconsin. I think Charles might have moved there after his youngest child was married. Annie was married to a Herman Ziegenhagen and lived in Winnebago Co., Wisconsin.
