Moore-Satchell descendants

DOWNING, FRAKES, MOORE, SATCHELL

I am researching Moore and Satchell surnames from Poweshiek & Mahaska counties and beyond. One of the early settlers in the area was Nicholas Moore, who was married to Sarah Downing.

Sarah was the daughter of John Downing & Hannah Frakes, of PA, Ohio, and later, Illinois.

Nicholas & Sarah Moore migrated to Poweshiek Co. about 1843. Two of their daughters married into the Satchell family. One of their sons - John - held several public offices in Poweshiek Co., as well as being elected an Iowa state representative in the 15th General Assembly, in 1874.

I am happy to share info with other researchers.
