I have begun a search on Moores in Poweshiek Co. James Moore came to America like 20+ years before 1914 from N. Ireland. He farmed quite a bit of land and hired farm hands to work for him. He traveled back and forth between Montezuma/Brooklyn areas to Marshalltown. I believe he owned a steam engine that helped harvest hay, oats, beans and corn.
He was my grandfather's (James Moore McNaul) uncle; grandpa's mother's brother.
Are you aware of a James Moore in your ancestry?
I don't know if he was married or had any children. I spoke to him once when I was in my early twenties and he recognized me to be a McNaul. Shortly thereafter he died.
I'm trying to trace my grandfather's mother's side of the family.
