In Response To: genealogy (pat pint)

I located obituaries for Patrick W. Burke [May 30, 1840 -- February 12, 1907] and his wife, Ellen (Brennan) Burke [June 6, 1850 -- March 18, 1934].

Patrick W. Burke, a well known citizen of LeMars, died at his home on Main street on Wednesday morning February 12th [1907]. He had been in poor health for a long time and his death was due to a general breaking down of the system. He was born in county Limerick, Ireland, on May 30th, 1840, and came to America in 1858 and settled at Wiota, Wis. He was united in marriage with Ellen Brennen on November 25, 1868 and continued to live in southern Wisconsin until 1882 when he came to Le Mars. He is survived by his wife and seven children, three sons and four daughters, one son having preceded him to the grave. The children are Mrs. Stephen E. Strong of Hawarden, Morgan P. Burke of Remsen, Will E. Burke of Waterloo; Hannah, Ella, Alice and Frank at home. The children away from home are here to attend the funeral which will be held from St. James Church this morning at ten o'clock. Among the floral offerings sent to the house were beautiful tributes from the high school class of 1907 and from the teachers and pupils of room 10. Mr. Burke for many years conducted a shoe shop in LeMars and had a wide acquaintance.
