Thank you oh so very much Dick. I do have in my possession a copy of Sherman W. Springer and Minnie A. Wood divorce papers. They got divorced on 5 June 1901. It says that Sherman was granted the divorce and that the plaintiff (Minnie) be restored to all the rights and priviledges of an unmarried person. Sherman is to have sole care, control and custody of William J. Springer and that Minnie is to have sole care, control and custody of Lillian D. Springer but each of the partied shall have the right at all reasonable times to visit the child in the custody of the other and each of the said children at the reasonable times shall be permitted to visit the parent having the custody of the other. It also says that for ten years that Sherman had been in good faith a resident of Muscatine and that Sherman said that at variious times Minnie had been quilty of lewd, indecent and adulterous conduct with various men who have visisted her at the home of these parties during the absence of Sherman. I even have a copy of Minnie A. Springer's own signature too.
