Bertina Jennie Nelson was born February 20, 1883 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa to Niels Aadsen Himle Nelson and Inga Ivarsdatter Syse (Olsen), the youngest of their nine children.
Bertina was baptized on March 25, 1883 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her baptismal sponsors were: Mr. & Mrs. Ole Torblaa; Lars Iver Olsen and Helga Larson. She was confirmed at RCLC on June 13, 1897.
Found in the 1885 - 1900 censuses living at rural Rudd, Floyd, Iowa:
1885: Nels O Nelson 43, Enga Nelson 43, Iver Nelson 18, Catharine Nelson 16, Emma Nelson 14, Albert Nelson 11, Amelia Nelson 9, Oscar Nelson 4, Bertina Nelson 2, Betsey Nelson 83
1900: Nels O Nelson 58, Enga Nelson 38, Emma J Nelson 30, Oscar B Nelson 19, Bertina N Nelson 17.
Bertina married Peter Paulson Naig on June 25, 1908 at the Osage Evangelical Church, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
The couple had seven children: Myrtle Eleanor, Nels Paul, Beatrice Pearl, Cleof Edwin, Lloyd Johannes, Josephine Mae and Dorothy Phyllis.
