Bertina Jennie Nelson was born February 20, 1883 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa to Niels Aadsen Himle Nelson and Inga Ivarsdatter Syse (Olsen), the youngest of their nine children.

Bertina was baptized on March 25, 1883 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her baptismal sponsors were: Mr. & Mrs. Ole Torblaa; Lars Iver Olsen and Helga Larson. She was confirmed at RCLC on June 13, 1897.

Bertina married Peter Paulson Naig on June 25, 1908 at the Osage Evangelical Church, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had seven children: Myrtle Eleanor, Nels Paul, Beatrice Pearl, Cleof Edwin, Lloyd Johannes, Josephine Mae and Dorothy Phyllis.

Bertina J Naig died February 4, 1970 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. There is a memorial for her at Find a Grave #54073907.
