I'm looking for information on "Richard Elliot Den Otter" (aka Dirk/Dick); he was born on 6/24/1877 near Pella. He was married to "Ella Van Den Baard" who was born 11/9/1876, the daughter of Cornelius & Maggie (Van Bantum) Van Den Baard. She was the eldest of 7 children. I do not have a place of birth for her or a date of marriage. I have Richard's parents as "Richard & Jennie (Duncan) Den Otter", both born in Holland, but I have no exact area of Holland. I did locate on a ship list for the Cathrina Jackson that left Holland in April of 1847 with immigrants bound for Pella Iowa a listing for "Otter, den, Dirk" along with "Otter, den, Mrs. D" , "Otter, den, Aart", and "Otter, den, Lena".
Richard and Ella had 7 Children before Ella passed away @ the young age of 34. It seems that Richard left shortly after she died and that one of Ella's siblings raised the youngest children. Some of their children are listed as born in "Otley, Iowa."
I'm looking for Richard's parents and if in fact they are the Den Otters listed on the ship, and information on his siblings (if any). Also a marriage date for Ella & Richard. Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
