Hi Sharon, nice to hear from you again. I have linked Frederick Frank to the Albisheim area. According to the LDS FamilySearch.org web site, he married his wife, Marie Henriette Holdefer 2 Sept 1845 in Albisheim. They emigrated to America 30 March 1855 on the ship Ashland from Havre to New Orleans and were accompanied by other relations:
George Vogt, 59 smith
Vogt, Phillippine 59
Holdefert, Jacob 37
Holdefert, Christine 37
Holdefert, George 9
Holdefert, Charles 7
Holdefert, Christine 5
Holdefert, Maria 3
Holdefert, Jacob .6 infant
Emerich, Margreda 23
Frank, Frederic 39, farmer
Frank, Maria 33
Frank, Cathrine 8
Frank, Christine 6
Frank, Carl 3
Frank, Barbara .6 infant
Bayer, Catherine 16
Frank, Elizabeth 24Supposedly there was a newspaper article written around the time that this group arrived in the Keokuk or Franklin or Donnellson area talking about how they were greeted by relatives already in the area. I would love to find it!!
In 1860 Frederick, Maria and family can be found living next to John Holdefer (from Albisheim) and his family in Franklin, IA. I've also seen church records for most of this group in Donnellson and surrounding area.
Coincidentally, Frederic's children also share the parent names of Charles and Jacob Frank--Carl and Barbara. (I haven't found any connection yet.)
And Charles Frank also married into this Holdefer line when he took John Holdefer's daughter, Lucinda as his second wife.Any possible connections?
