I am trying to locate information about my great great great grandfather Mathew Kilgore and his son, William Kilgore who embarked from Keokuk, IA in 1850 on an overland wagon journey to Sacramento, CA. They left a journal of their expedition (which I have a copy of). Not finding gold, they eventually settled in the Sacramento Valley in the small town of Grimes. I do not know anything of their previous existence in Keokuk and would like to know where they came from prior to Keokuk.
