Thanks for the info! Wow this does get more confusing. So maybe there was more than 1 Edward Frees/Frese/Fries in Oxford in 1893? But the ones from the cemetery record do seem just a tad young to be getting married in 1893?

My grandfather, Edward F. Frees, was born in 1872 and died in 1972. He is buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford with his 2nd wife, Mary Lichty Frees. And FRIES was the way the name was spelled in Germany.

Maybe I will need to get a hold of the actual marriage record for that couple in 1893 to see if it is indeed my grandfather. His parents names were John Frees and Barbara Strubel.

Very interesting though. Thanks so much for your help.
