1st Wife disappeared

LUTHER, FREES

I recently discovered that my grandfather, Edward F. FREES was married twice. In March 1893, in Johnson Co., a marriage license was issued to Edward FREES and Ada LUTHER. They were both from Oxford. I found this in an on line newspaper, The Daily Citizen in Iowa City. I do not know where they were married.

By the 1895 census, Edward Frees is single and living with his mother. In 1900 he married my grandmother.

Just wondering what happened to Ada? I checked the census and her parents were likely Christian and Ellen (cURTIS) LUTHER.
