William Lyle death evidence

Hello,
My 2nd great grandfather William Lyle lived in Oxford, Johnson, Iowa, in 1860, with his wife Susan Sturgeon Lyle and their children Olive, Ellen, and Matthew as well as Susan's mother Olivia. Four houses away was Anna Lyle widow of Matthew Lyle and her children and future second husband.
Matthew Lyle may have died in 1856 in Johnson County. William and Susan's last child was born in 1861 and Susan was a widow in California in 1870 so William died between 1860 and 1870 but I haven't been able to find a record of his death.
Any information about the Lyles would be much appreciated.
