Thank you so much for responding. Do you know who David Crisman's parents were? Could Harriet be a sister to Rachel? Sisters marrying brothers? I'm trying to figure out what my g-g-g-grandmother's maiden name was and how she fits into the Crisman family. Was she a Crisman, or did she marry a Crisman? Here's what I know: Harriet "Hattie" (maiden name undetermined) b. March 9, 1833 (death certificate). She married Philip Smith (Schmidt) June 3, 1856 in Johnson co., IA. Name on marriage record is "Harriet Crisman." Obit. states she was b. in Reading, PA and came to IA 1856. Father's name on death certificate is Ritz (surname?). Is "Ritz" inaccurate or a nickname? Harriet and Philip's children: Anna Marie (my ancestor), Kate, Elizabeth "Lizzie", Carrie, William, Emma F., Hattie. Thanks again for your help! Where and when did David and Rachel die?
