Did you research the l840 census for Jefferson County Iowa? John Boles age 40-50 is head of
household, wife and 9 children.

Also he owned land in Penn and Walnut townships
as early as l840 under the surname BEALS to make research more confusing.

Were they possibly Quakers?

I answered queries 33 long years but am now 86 and no longer doing it at all. Sometime years back I had dug into this early family for someone. It is not my ancestor at all.
