In Response To: Re: Fairfield City Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery (Verda)

Thanks, Verda, for your helpful info. The graves I am interested in would probably be in the old City cemetery. Two young STIDGER children died in Fairfield in Dec 1891 and Jan 1892 and according to the obituaries or account of the deaths in the newspaper, they were buried in the "City Cemetery".

I am curious who else is buried nearby, in case other members of the family are also. The father of the STIDGER children was Harmon Stidger. I know he was in Van Buren Co. by 1900 and then moved to Columbus OH where he died in 1926. Harmon's sister, Clara (Stidger) HAMPTON was my gr grandmother and she's the one I'm trying to find. Harmon Stidger's obituary does not list her as a survivor in 1926.

I'll have to look further into the cemetery records. I did not get to meet Mrs. Prill, but did talk with Orville Prill one time, but didn't know about the two young Stidger children being buried in the old cemetery.

Thanks for taking time to reply to my query. I know this is a busy time for you. Best wishes.
