In Response To: Fairfield City Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery (Juanita)

Dear friend:

The Old City Fairfield Cemetery was started about l838 - no lots for about 1/4 of it which is the oldest part. Total burials probably l,000 up to the last one I know of in l970 of Mrs.Stinespring
Copied in l964 by Mary Prill, whose name I know you have seen, maybe you even met her once? The rest 3/4 has good lot records of owner/price

The Evergreen Cemetery is right next to it and started in l870 by Clement Jordan who gave the
land. It has now about l0,000 people... and has good detailed records of who is on every space l, 2, 3, 4, etc. who bought it and prices.
The owners are not indexed whatsoever, usually a spouse or if a child, parent is owner. It all looks like one HUGE cemetery from the street.

In the death records at the courthouse they often said buried in Old City Cemetery, but the body is actually in Evergreen.

Other questions....I will try to help. VERDA
