Again, Mary, thanks! I called the orphanage in Ottumwa a couple of years ago and they had no record. But the adoption isn't a particular problem as I found the info that she was adopted in a divorce action of her adoptive parents. I think my grandmother was just given to the family in Ottumwa directly by Clara Hampton. I've been unable to find a family relationship between them nor have I found how they may have known each other.
Appreciate your suggestion though.
