Looking for probate and land records and will for a "STEPHEN THRASH" of Jefferson County Iowa who bought land in "JEFFERSON COUNTY IOWA." He was the son of WILLIAM mentioned beklow in this e-mail. All help is appreciated. MARY

rjanecke_1@Charter.net is where to send the findings. She is the one who wrote this letter below.

This is most likely out of your area but you may be able to direct me to someone who would be able to help me if you can not. I am trying to complete my 88 yr old mother's and my DAR applications. I need to find something to verify the relationship between William Thrash and his sister Hannah Thrash McKERN. William and Hannah were the children of Valentine Thrash. Both born in Montgomery Co., VA. Hannah was born there in 1785 and William was born there in 1790. Hannah married Luke McKern in 1809 in Buncombe Co., NC. Luke was born in Essex Co., NJ and is buried in Henry Co.,IA abt 1847. William's wife Catherine Lester THRASH died 7/11/1850 in Henry Co. IA. William and Catherine's son Samuel Thrash states in the Portraits and Biographical album of JEfferson and Van Buren Counties.,IA that he and his father moved to Henry Co.,IA in the fall of 1837 where claims were located. (Do you have any idea what "claimS were located" refers to?) Since Luke died in Henry Co. and Catherine
died there I was hoping there would be some Land record or some document, newspaper death notice or ? that would tie these families together.

PS. After Catherine died William remarried Mary T.De Long. He died 3 Sept 1853 and is buried in Mahaska Co.

Thank you for any and all help you could provide!!!

Sincerely,
Kay
