MARK EKLUND
Fairfield

Mark EKLUND, 61, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Jefferson County Health Center after a brief battle with cancer.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastors Al Coffin and Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow the service in Fell Cemetery, Libertyville, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fell Cemetery or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Claire SIMPLOT, 1207 Glover Hills Drive, Springfield, TN 37172.

Mark was born April 27, 1960, in Fairfield to Larry and Mary Ann (CHANNEL) EKLUND. He married the love of his life, Penny DLOUHY on July 27, 2001. She passed away Nov. 16, 2014.

Mark graduated from Fairfield High School in 1978. He lived in the Fairfield and Birmingham area all his life. Mark worked 19 years at Loudens, 15 years for Fairfield School District and most recently at Jefferson County Health Center in the maintenance department.

Mark was an outdoorsman and loved spending time at Robert's Pond or Lake Thunder Head. Some of his other outside interests were riding his motorcycle, horses, hunting and fishing. Mark liked to watch old Western, play guitar and loved playing cards. Most important was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Mark will be missed by his children, Cole (Katie) BOATRIGHT of Fairfield and Claire (Clint) SIMPLOT of Springfield, Tenn.; grandchildren, Benett, Brice and Balen BOATRIGHT and Finn SIMPLOT; his parents, Larry and Mary Ann EKLUND of Libertyville; two brothers, Mike (Geri) EKLUND of Libertyville and Craig (Kathy) EKLUND of Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Penny EKLUND; and grandparents.
