Lena E. SOBASKI

RICHLAND -- Lena E. SOBASKI, 98, of Richland, died today, Wednesday, April 26, 1995, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA), following a brief illness.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. David Brownfield officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Memorials have been established to the St. Joseph Handicap Accessibility Project, and Masses, or donor may give to charity of his choice.

Mrs. SOBASKI was born Dec. 1, 1896, in Otter Creek, the daughter of Nick and Ellen O'ROURKE BECHEN. She grew up near Bernard, later moving to South Dakota and in 1927 to Polishville. She married Anthony SOBASKI Jan. 10, 1915, in Lake Andes, S.D. He died May 13, 1965 (sic - May 15, 1964). She moved to Cypress Village in Richland in 1983. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are two sons, Robert C. of Richland, Richard of Brighton; a daughter, Evelyn ADAM of Richland; 15 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Ten brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
