MRS. SOBASKI, NATIVE OF POLAND, DIES
Passed away at home of son near Pleasant Plain yesterday

Mrs. Mary SOBASKI, 71, native of Poland, died Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the home of her son, John SOBASKI, who lives near Pleasant Plain. She suffered a stroke several weeks ago and had been in failing health since.

Funeral services will be held in the St. Joseph's church at East Pleasant Plain at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev. Fr. Wetzstein. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. SOBASKI was born February 7, 1871 (sic - 1870) in Poland. She came to the United States when she was 18 years old. Soon after she was married to Peter SOBASKI, who preceded her in death 12 years ago.

For the past several years she had made her home with her son since the death of his wife.

She is survived by eight children: Anthony, John and Mrs. Clem BENDA, all of near Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Rose IMBER, Mrs. Helen GORMICK, Gertrude SOBASKI and Walter, all of Chicago; and Sylvester, who lives near Brighton.

On step daughter, Mrs. Pauline BENDURA (sic - BANDURA), Creston; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. One son, Joe, passed away several years ago.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the F. A. Hoskins funeral home in Brighton.

MRS. MARY SOBASKI

Mrs. Mary SOBASKI, age 71, a resident of East Pleasant Plain for 51 years, passed away May 10 after an illness of but a few weeks. She leaves to mourn her death, eight children, Anthony, John and Mrs. Clem BENDA all of near East Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Rose IMBER, Mrs. Helen GORNICK, Gertrude SOBASKI and Walter all of Chicago and Sylvester who lives near Brighton; one step-daughter Mrs. Pauline BONDURA; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. One son Joe passed away several years ago.

She was a loyal and faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic church from which the funeral was held and largely attended, Thursday 10 a.m., May 13. Fr. Wetzstein, Fr. Manhart of Iowa City, Fr. Schoenfelder of Harper celebated the Requiem high mass, Fr. Kleinfelder of Clear Creek was master of ceremonies. Fr. Kempker of Keota, Fr. Pound and Fr. Albers of Ottumwa helped sing the Requiem.

Relatives and friends who attended the funeral from a distance were Mr. Owen McConville, Mr. and Mrs. Joe ZAHARIS, Miss Ellen White all of Centerville; Mrs. Schrack of Moline; Mrs. Ed Kurka, Mr. and Mrs. E. Shelangoski of Fairfield.
