James "Jim" LEAHY age 83, of Batavia passed away July 5, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa city (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

James "Jim" LEAHY age 83, of Batavia, passed away July 5, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation for family & friends will be 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Monday, July 9, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church and mailed to 407 Liberty Street, Batavia, IA 52533.

Jim was born July 5, 1935 in Bronx, New York. He married Darlene MAIRET on June 17, 1972, in Minnesota. She passed away January 6, 2000, in Fairfield.

Prior to moving to Batavia, where he as lived for 25 years, he lived in Buena Park, CA. Jim wa a member of the Elks lodge in Hawaiian Gardens, California. He worked as a printer for different companies. Jim enjoyed being outside fishing or camping. He would watch golf, football, boxing and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Some of his other interest (sic) were reading and gambling. One of Jim's favorite food was pizza. What meant the most to him was to spend time with his family & friends.

Left to share Jim's memories are his children, Gene MAIRET, Kimball (Ruth) KELLETT and Susan (Jeff) HAMRICK all of Batavia; 4 grandchildren, Randall MAIRET, Melissa KELLETT, Jessica KELLETT and Ricky KELLETT; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Darlene.
